Hôtel Byblos opened in 1967 and is the hotel most people picture when they think of Saint-Tropez. Built as a cluster of ochre, pink and cream Provençal houses around courtyards and a pool, it holds French Palace distinction and sits on the hillside at 20 Avenue Paul Signac, a three-minute walk from Place des Lices.
Where the beachfront Palace hotels sell calm and sea views, Byblos sells the village: you can walk to dinner, to the market and to the port, then come home to a garden, a pool and — if you want it — Les Caves du Roy downstairs. It is the right recommendation for guests who came for Saint-Tropez itself rather than for a quiet stretch of sand.
Location, access and transfers
- Place des Lices: around 3 minutes on foot — Tuesday and Saturday markets, cafés and boutiques.
- Vieux Port: 8-10 minutes' walk downhill.
- Pampelonne beach clubs: 20-30 minutes by car, longer in August.
- Nice Côte d'Azur (NCE): 1h45-2h15 by private car; 20-25 minutes by helicopter to Grimaud.
- Toulon-Hyères (TLN): around 1h15 by road.
- Marseille (MRS): roughly 2h15-2h45.
- By sea: boat transfers from Sainte-Maxime, Cannes and Nice for yacht and day-trip guests.
The village is largely pedestrian in season and parking is tight, so we normally hold chauffeur cars locally and schedule timed pick-ups rather than keeping vehicles waiting near the hotel.

Rooms facing the pool and the nightclub side are livelier. If your clients are light sleepers, ask for a quiet garden house — that single request prevents most complaints about this hotel.

- Byblos is a village-centre hotel, not a beach hotel. If your clients want sand at the door, pair it with a Pampelonne beach club day or recommend a beachfront property instead.
- Specify a quiet house for early sleepers, and a pool-side house for guests who want the atmosphere.
- Cucina and Rivea fill up. Book restaurant tables with the room, not on arrival.
- Suites with private pools are few — for honeymoons in July or August, request them at first enquiry.
- Budget transfers realistically; August road times to Saint-Tropez can double.
