Where to sit: understanding the stands
Twickenham is a four-tier bowl and the seat you choose changes the day more than most people expect.
- Lower tier, halfway (West and East): closest to the intensity — the best place to feel a scrum and to watch the Haka. Sightlines of the far touchline are flatter.
- Middle tier, halfway: the connoisseur's choice. Elevated enough to read the shape of the game, close enough for atmosphere. Most premium and hospitality seating sits here.
- Behind the posts (North and South): excellent value, strong singing sections, ideal for goal-kicking drama; harder to judge play on the far wing.
- Upper tier: the most affordable full view of the tactical picture. Bring a warm coat — November at Twickenham is cold in the top rows.
- Accessible seating: wheelchair and companion positions exist across the ground but are limited; tell us at enquiry stage, not after booking.
For groups we prioritise seats together over seats that are marginally better placed. Ten people split across four blocks is not a group experience, and on a fixture like this large contiguous blocks are the first thing to disappear.
Match tickets or hospitality?
Both are valid; they suit different objectives and budgets.
- Match tickets — the atmosphere, the crowd, the concourse. Best for fans who want the pure Twickenham experience and for price-sensitive groups.
- Official hospitality — a padded premium seat plus a hosted room: pre-match dining, drinks packages, half-time and post-match hospitality, a private or shared lounge, and, crucially, no queues. Typically four to five hours in comfort rather than 80 minutes in the cold.
- Private boxes — usually 10-20 guests with a dedicated host, tailored menus and your own balcony. The right answer for client entertaining and board-level guests.
- Shared tables in a hospitality restaurant — the efficient middle ground for two to eight guests: hospitality comfort without box-level cost.
For corporate entertaining, hospitality almost always wins. Conversation with a client is possible before and after the match; in a general admission seat, it mostly is not. All tickets and hospitality are sourced through official and authorised channels, priced and allocated on availability at the time of booking.

Where to stay for a Twickenham match
- Twickenham and Richmond — the shortest journey, riverside pubs and a genuine match-day atmosphere. Rooms are limited and go first; book earliest here.
- Kensington, Chelsea and Knightsbridge — our usual recommendation for a full weekend: good five-star choice, easy access to the A316 route towards the stadium.
- Mayfair and St James's — for guests who want the landmark hotels, Michelin dining and shopping alongside the rugby.
- Waterloo and the South Bank — practical if your group prefers the direct train to Twickenham station.
- Heathrow area — sensible for large groups flying in Friday and out Sunday; around 20-30 minutes from the ground off-peak.
Expect London hotel rates to firm up noticeably over an All Blacks weekend, and expect minimum-stay rules at some properties. Confirming early buys both the rate and the choice of category.
Getting to Allianz Stadium on match day
- By train: London Waterloo to Twickenham in roughly 30 minutes, then a 15-20 minute walk with the crowd. Trains are packed from about three hours before kick-off.
- By chauffeur: door to door, but allow 45-90 minutes from central London on match day. We agree a set-down point clear of the road closures and pre-arrange the post-match pick-up so nobody stands on a wet pavement chasing a phone signal.
- By coach: for groups, with a stewarded parking or drop-off plan booked in advance.
- Timing: plan to be in the ground 60-90 minutes before kick-off — the walk-up, security and concourse all take longer than the map suggests. For a 14:10 kick-off, that means leaving central London by around 11:30.
- Leaving: the streets around the stadium stay dense for about an hour. Hospitality guests avoid most of it by staying in the lounge; everyone else is better off with a booked pick-up a short walk away.
Sample three-night match weekend
- Friday: airport meet-and-greet and chauffeured transfer, check in to a central London hotel, evening table booked in Mayfair or Chelsea.
- Saturday: late breakfast, transfer to Twickenham for pre-match hospitality, England v New Zealand at 14:10, post-match drinks in the lounge, chauffeured return and a relaxed dinner near the hotel.
- Sunday: private guided London morning, or a day trip to Windsor or the Cotswolds, then afternoon departure transfers.
Practical advice before you commit
- Buy from official or authorised sources only. Twickenham tickets carry resale restrictions; tickets from unauthorised resellers can be cancelled at the turnstile.
- Dress for November. Cold, often wet, frequently windy. Layers, and a coat you can sit in for three hours.
- Decide seats-together versus seat quality before we search — it changes what we can hold.
- Group names matter. Hospitality and some ticket types need a guest list; collecting names early avoids a scramble.
- Check dietary and access needs at enquiry. Both are straightforward in advance and difficult on the day.
